Business Computing Fundamentals

Learn the basic foundation skills to effectively use of a Microsoft Windows computer. Special emphasis will be given to using computers in a business/workplace environment.

This hands-on workshops series, participants will gain skills and proficiency in using Microsoft Windows, file management, navigating and searching the Internet, and web-based email.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be prepared to take JVS’ Microsoft Office classes.

The Resume workshop will invite participants to think like the employer through resume analysis, exposure to resume formats and components, and direct feedback from the facilitator and peers. Participants will examine sample resumes and assess appropriate resume format and content according to experience and background. Participants will gain thorough knowledge of how to target resumes to specific employers and jobs.

Attend this JVS Workshop to how to begin your job search on the Internet. Using the internet to conduct your job search is a crucial first step to the job search process. Learn how to search for jobs online, apply online and format your resume.

Please bring your current resume on a PC-formatted disk and the name of one business or company that you would like to research. This course assumes familiarity with Internet navigation in a Windows-based environment.

The Interview Techniques workshop will familiarize participants with the different types of job interviews, interview questions, and with the methods participants can use to prepare and perform in the interview. Resumes II: A Resume-Building Clinic
