Career Coaching Services
For those preferring the privacy of one-on-one work with an experienced JVS career coach, or who have unique issues and questions that would best be handled individually, JVS offers individual assistance with:
Career Assessment & Planning:
- Clarify the elements of career satisfaction for you: your values, skills, interests and work environment preferences.
- Research and evaluate the career options that fit your career satisfiers.
- Identify barriers to career change and develop strategies to overcome them.
Work Issues:
- Develop your communication, negotiation, and time management skills.
- Evaluate work transition opportunities and setbacks.
- Adjust to your new job.
The fees for individual coaching are $85 per session. Expect approximately 3 – 5 sessions; however, the length and duration of career coaching and advising varies depending on the complexity and urgency of participant needs.
Topics can include:
Self-Assessment:
- Clarify your values, talents, interests, & skills
- Identify & articulate what motivates & energizes you about work
- Practice describing to others what you want from your career
- Lay a meaningful foundation for goal-setting & planning
Goal-Setting:
- Explore your options in the world of work
- Look for alignment between your self-assessment & those options
- Set and prioritize specific, attainable goals
- Start taking next steps in your career transition
Executive Job Search:
- Develop your strategy for a high-level job search
- Craft effective self-marketing materials and messages
- Practice interviewing skills that highlight the value you add to prospective employers
- Learn how to negotiate job offers and get off to a fast start in your new job
2 Young 2 Retire: Re-Careering After 50:
- Think beyond retirement using ideas from the popular book 2 Young 2 Retire
- Explore the ongoing meaning and role of work in your life
- Clarify your particular work/life “balance”
- Develop specific plans to continue work on your term
Am I Ready for Coaching?
To determine whether you are ready for coaching with JVS, please answer for yourself the following questions:
- Are you clear about what you want and need to learn in the coaching process?
- Are you willing to be an active participant in the coaching process?
- Are you motivated to learn new things about yourself and the world of work?
- Are you ready to show up for all of the sessions of your program?
- Are you ready to do the additional hours of in-between session work that will be required?
- Are you prepared to consider new ideas, try new things, be courageous, and initiate next steps in your career development?
- Are you prepared to take action on what you learn in the coaching process?
