Position
Summary:
Unrestricted fundraising at JVS has more than doubled within the
last five years with $1.4 million raised in the 2007/2008 fiscal
year. Reporting to the Development Director, the Development
Manager is responsible for planning and implementing the annual fund
program, overseeing all aspects of the donor database (Raiser’s
Edge), supervising the Development Assistant, and providing
significant support for all fundraising efforts, including Strictly
Business, JVS’s signature fundraising event.
Responsibilities:
Development
-
Participate in identifying agency fundraising priorities and
help to develop and implement annual and long-range fundraising
plans.
- Plan,
implement and evaluate the annual fund program, including
upgrade strategies, personalized mailings, volunteer management,
follow-up and analysis.
- Create
& maintain evaluation tools and provide high level analysis and
reporting of fundraising and prospect data.
- Work
closely with Development Director on JVS’s fundraising
campaigns.

Participate in planning, implementation and evaluation of
cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities.

Participate as a key member of the Strictly Business team.
- With
the Development Director, staff and support a portfolio of
motivated volunteer solicitors in their fundraising efforts.
Database
Management
-
Provide
oversight of donor database, including reporting and list
generation, solicitor activity, and acknowledgment process.

Ensure
high functioning of the donor database. Manage and document
database processes and procedures. Oversee database maintenance.
- Create
custom and canned reports that enable all members of the
department to report on fundraising progress and solicitor
activity.

Provide training to other staff and temps as needed.
- Attend
periodic Raiser’s Edge trainings and oversee efforts to increase
effective use of the database throughout the Development
department.

Oversee acknowledgement process and ensure personalized
recognition of gifts. Manage pledge collections process.

Oversee production of donor lists for publications, invitations,
solicitations and ads.

Supervise and manage workload of Development Assistant;
identifies staff development and support needs and communicates
needs to Human Resources; and monitors and supports staff in
carrying out responsibilities and meeting targets.
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Experience):

Bachelor’s
degree.

Self-starter, ability to work under pressure, ability to
multi-task, flexible, creative problem solver; ability to work
effectively as part of a team.

Meticulous
attention to detail.

Ability to
master new tasks quickly.

Highly
analytical systems thinker.

Minimum 2
years experience in development or membership.

Excellent
Microsoft Office skills. Experience with mail merge function in
Word and sorting, formatting and producing reports in Excel.

Experience
with The Raiser’s Edge 7 or similar donor database required.

Excellent
writing skills.
-
Excellent
organizational, administrative, and verbal communication skills.

Successful
experience working with volunteers and business professionals.

Supervision experience preferred.
Salary:
$50,000 - 65,000
