JobLink
is a job placement program serving adults with disabilities from
the Jewish community and employable, motivated clients referred
from the Department of Rehabilitation. Clients must have a realistic
vocational goal and be willing to spend at least 20 hours per week
looking for work under the guidance of their JVS Employment Specialist.
The
JobLink Program assists job seekers with assessment and career planning,
work readiness training, job search skills training, computer training,
job placement assistance, and follow-up services. The JobLink employment
specialist supports job seekers with assessing their readiness to
return to work, exploring career options and learning job search
skills.
In
addition to job placement assistance, individuals receive intensive
case management services at Jewish Family and Children's Services
or at the Department of Rehabilitation to help prepare them for
the challenges of returning to work. Because of the highly competitive
job market, we have found that we can no longer provide one-on-one
employment counseling for people with disabilities who are not ready
to return to work, especially when there is such a high demand for
job placement assistance among those who are ready to work.
