Mei
Hing was fortunate to have a job as a garment worker
at local clothing manufacturer CP Shades. But when the company
closed the plant to move operations overseas, she suddenly
found herself without work and without prospects. A co-worker
told her about JVS, where she signed up for the VESL
(Vocational English as a Second Language) class. At
the same time, she began working with a JVS employment specialist.
When Mei Hing expressed interest in learning about the home
care field, JVS referred her to a training program run by
one of our partners, Arriba Juntos. With more English skills,
resume help, and mock interviews conducted by JVS staff,
Mei Hing quickly found a job at In-home Supportive Services
Consortium.

JVS offers a specialty nursing package to help you get the psychiatric nursing coursework you need to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam.
VESL for Medical Professionals
This class will provide 3 main components: Vocational English as a Second Language, Medical terminology and a Computer Skills Lab. It is designed to assist with English language skills in healthcare situations. The goal is to help participants prepare to take the LVN Refresher Course.
