Employment Action Program (LEAP)
The
Legal Employment Action Program (LEAP) trains and places low-income
individuals in entry-level positions in the legal field. Training
includes computer skills, clerical keyboarding, business etiquette
and communication, legal terminology and legal ethics, soft skills
such as teamwork and conflict resolution, and preparation for the
unique demands of the legal environment. Participants are placed
in part-time, paid internships, and upon successful completion of
the internships begin full-time employment and retention services.
This
program is offered in partnership with the Bar Association's Volunteer
Legal Services Program and with urban university.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Individuals
receiving CalWORKs or PAES in San Francisco
- Individuals
eligible for WIA funds in San Francisco
- Proficient
in English
- Clean
and sober at least six months
- 18
or older
Legal
Skills Training And Advancement Resources Program (Legal STAR)
Legal
STAR focuses on improving the skills and advancing the career potential
of entry-level, legal support staff. The program provides participants
with 60 hours of instruction focused on business communication and
workplace skills, career development, and networking. Participating
employees will work one-on-one with a career counselor in order
to identify and pursue their professional goals. Entry-level support
staff working in law firms, corporate legal departments, legal advocacy
organizations, or in the courts systems are eligible to enroll.
This program is offered in partnership with the Bar Association's
Volunteer Legal Services Program, urban university, and SF Works.
