IRA Charitable Rollover – ends December 31, 2011!

The IRA Charitable Rollover provision that allows tax-free charitable gifts directly from an IRA is scheduled to expire December 31 of this year.

Do you know someone 70½ or older who can take advantage of this special opportunity? A gift to JVS is an investment in our community, providing over 5,000 people annually with opportunities to build skills, find jobs and achieve self-sufficiency.

You may contribute funds this way if:

  • You are age 70½ or older at the time of the gift.
  • The gifts total any amount up to $100,000 in 2011.
  • You transfer funds directly from an IRA.
  • You transfer the gifts outright to one or more qualified charities (such as JVS), but not to supporting organizations, or for gift annuities, charitable trusts, donor advised funds or any gift from which you receive a personal benefit.

The IRA Charitable Rollover provision allows individuals aged 70½ and older to donate up to $100,000 from their Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) to public charities without having to count the distributions as taxable income.

If eligible, please contact your plan provider for information on their process.

Please note: JVS is not qualified to provide legal, tax or investment advice. Please consult with your professional advisors before making any planned gift.
