Speaker Pelosi Sees Stimulus Dollars at Work at JVS
On June 4th, Speaker Nancy Pelosi hosted a roundtable discussion at JVS, where she spoke about initiatives funded by the Recovery Act and their impact on job creation in the Bay Area.  The speaker praised the work of JVS. "In every action, JVS abides not only by Jewish values; it upholds a deeply American notion, and the organization's motto: Work Transforms Lives"

Speaker Pelosi met JVS clients who are participating in the Community Outreach Internship Program (COIP), a training partnership with UCSF for administrative assistants. "Like so many, these individuals were willing to put in a day's work to get by, but just needed a break to set their careers on track.  And, thanks to JVS and UCSF, they are getting a fresh start."

Speaker Pelosi saw first-hand how her work on Capitol Hill has translated into real change for Americans in her district.  "In Congress, creating jobs for the American people remains our top priority. And we know that our effort begins at places such as JVS."
