Scholarships

Do you want to get ahead in your career, but can't afford the training you need? Through a generous grant from the Jewish Community Endowment Newhouse Fund, JVS is proud to award grants of up to $1,800 to Jewish women and men for vocational training.

This scholarship program is open to all Jewish residents of San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma or the Peninsula who can demonstrate financial need and are interested in a short-term training program focused on a clearly defined vocational goal for which there are ready employment opportunities in the Bay Area. Funds can be used for tuition payments, for living expenses while attending a tuition-free program, for equipment, or testing fees. Applicants may request funds for up to a one-year period in duration. If a course of study extends beyond one year, applicants may apply for funds during the last year of study.

To apply, complete and submit the application form (PDF) , including a budget, all supporting documentation and a written statement of purpose (no longer than 500 words) stating background and reasons for the vocational decision, description of training program and goals for employment after completion of the program. Read our guidelines (PDF) for more information about the application and decision-making process.

Next application deadline: October 10
