Job Search Assistance

Transgender Economic Empowerment Initiative (TEEI)

Everyone wants to use their talents, live up to their full potential, and have a job where they can be themselves.  The transgender community is no exception.  That’s why we created TEEI, the first program in the country designed to help transgender individuals find – and keep – good jobs in safe workplaces.

Whether you are thinking about transitioning or have been out for decades, whether you are looking to take the next step in your career or have been out of work for a while, TEEI can help you.

Our clients have access to:
  • Expert one-on-one job coaching with members of the trans community and trans allies.
  • The full range of our employment resources, including help with your resume, cover letters, networking skills, computer training, and interviewing skills.
  • Mentorship from a successful transgender professional who can offer both personal support and career networking opportunities.
  • Our growing network of local trans-friendly employers looking to hire from the community.
  • Admission to the annual Transgender Job Fair attended by dozens of local employers.
  • Legal advice on identity documentation and your rights in the workplace.
TEEI has a successful track record of working closely with supportive employers to create workplaces where transgender employees can thrive.  We have placed people in safe, exciting workplaces including:
  • UCSF
  • Frameline
  • Baker Places
  • Bloomingdales
  • Pacific Horizon Medical Group
  • Trader Joe’s
TEEI is a collaboration between the San Francisco LGBT Community Center, SF TEAM, the Transgender Law Center, and JVS.
