Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Refresher Program
 
Are you a foreign-trained nurse?  Are you looking to get back into the U.S. healthcare system after a break? We can help. Our Licensed Vocational Nursing Program can help you get your license and get to work. 

A successful sixteen-year collaboration with JVS, City College of San Francisco, and local medical facilities, the LVN Refresher Program is a six-month training program for nurses who need a refresher course and nursing skills brush-up, an introduction to the American health care delivery system, and coaching on passing the nursing licensure exam.

Our comprehensive program includes:
  • Seventeen weeks of Nursing theory and labs through City College of San Francisco beginning in January 2010.
  • Clinical assignments held at medical facilities such as San Francisco General Hospital, Laguna Honda Hospital, and Alameda County Medical Center’s skilled nursing facility.
  • Resource referrals to help you throughout the program, including an NCLEX Review and resume writing workshops.
  • One-on-one career coaching to help you secure your first (or next) Nursing job!
To apply to the LVN refresher program, you must have:
  • Verification of an RN or LVN nursing license from abroad
  • Approval by the Board of Vocational or Registered Nursing to take the NCLEX exam
  • Proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
  • ESL level of high intermediate

The LVN Refresher is a component of the Immigrant Nurse Re-entry Program (INRP), a collaborative effort to help foreign-educated nurses become licensed and return to work. Funding  is made possible by the David B. Gold Foundation, the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and the Bay Area Workforce Funding Collaborative.
