As part of the Health Care Academy, the Bay Area Medical Academy (BAMA) offers a three-week Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) training program designed to provide basic information and hands-on training in skin and venipuncture procedures. This free, full-time program will be held in January, February and March 2012. Don't miss this unique opportunity!
After this program has been successfully completed and a participant has passed the national certification (CPT-1) exam he/she will receive the following:
- A 40-hour clinical externship with a local healthcare employer
- A Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1) license
- Job search assistance
To be eligible for the program you need to be 18 years of age or older and must have:
- Graduated with a Medical Assistant (MA) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate
- Proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
- The ability to pass a criminal background check
- Proof of selective service registration (if you are male)
- Evidence of your status as a dislocated worker (receiving unemployment benefits) or low income individual
