Upcoming apprenticeship program in partnership with Foothill College
The Veterinary Assistant program, to be run with Foothill College, is currently being redesigned. This paid, 2-year apprenticeship program (40 hours per week, including classroom time and on-the-job training) will prepare students to work as veterinary assistants through a combination of college credit courses, lectures, labs and on-the-job training.
Class topics will include medical terminology, animal care skills, clinical pathology methods, and more. The apprenticeship will follow the life of a rescue animal moving through the shelter system. You’ll learn how departments work together to contribute to an animal shelter’s mission. Upon completion of the program, you will have the necessary skills to further your career as a veterinary assistant.
