Veterinary Assistant
Apprenticeship program in partnership with the San Francisco SPCA and Foothill College
JVS teamed up with the San Francisco SPCA and Foothill College to offer a paid 2-year (40 hours per week, including your classroom time and on-the-job training) apprenticeship program that prepares students to work as Veterinary Assistants through a combination of college credit courses, lectures, labs and on-the-job training.
Class topics will include medical terminology, animal care skills, clinical pathology methods and more. The apprenticeship will follow the life of a shelter animal moving through the SF SPCA. You’ll learn how departments work together to contribute to the organization’s mission.
Upon completion of the program, you will have the necessary skills to further your career at the San Francisco SPCA.
