The Role

JVS is seeking a full-time Director of IT, who will manage the organization’s technology and facilities operations and oversee the implementation of new IT systems and policies to facilitate a hybrid work environment, standardization or systems and policies across teams, and other improvements to facilitate the ability to scale in a quickly growing and changing organization. Under the direction of the COO, the Director of IT will oversee all information technology and facilities functions within JVS and collaborate with senior management, human resources, and vendors to align departmental goals and resource requirements with company strategic initiatives. The Director of IT works both on-site and remotely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all IT and facilities functions within JVS and manage team to best meet those needs
  • Support, communicate and reinforce the mission, values, philosophy, and culture of the organization
  • Manage organization’s technology operations, oversee the implementation of new systems, and deliver end-results on time and on budget
  • Manage organization’s facilities needs including staff offices, breakroom, client classrooms, related furniture and technology, and maintenance/repair projects
  • Collaborate with senior management to align departmental goals and resource requirements with company strategic initiatives, and to understand and improve efficiency for staff and clients
  • Analyze business requirements of JVS’s departments to determine their technology needs
  • Prepare technical requirements for new projects and collaborate with Lead Engineer in review and implementation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, service providers, suppliers, and outside consultants to ensure quality, best pricing, and timeliness
  • Request and approve quotes for server and end-user computer equipment and software
  • Together with Lead Engineer, identify vulnerabilities, the need for upgrades, and opportunities for improvement of company’s IT infrastructure
  • Develop and implement business continuity protocols to mitigate risk of data loss and disruption to business operations in the event of disasters, cyber incidents, or other emergencies
  • Develop and enforce IT-related policies, procedures, and compliance obligations; maintain staff security training; prepare and update IT and Facilities procedures
  • Make strategic recommendations and decisions around project outsourcing to align projects with team members availability, expertise, and company goals
  • Regularly communicate initiatives with affected teams and the company as a whole
  • Create and oversee the IT budget for the agency, and monitor spending
  • Select and standardize applications for staff use

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Over 3 years of related experience in a leadership role
  • Experience leading and managing large IT projects
  • Ability to foster teamwork at all levels through influence over authority
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in conjunction with training skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to interact with non-technical as well as technical staff respectfully and effectively
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Experience in creating and implementing IT policies that meet specific objectives
  • Understanding of managing work environment that includes both work in office and telecommuting
  • Understanding of the concepts of protecting the integrity of data and preventing security breaches
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware, software, networking)
  • Willingness to embrace and actively support JVS’s mission and core values
  • While it is not required from the candidate to have an extensive hands-on experience with all IT tools and processes used at JVS, the ideal candidate will have familiarity with the general patterns, paradigms, pitfalls, and procedures involved in administering the following types of applications: File collaboration cloud platforms such as Office 365/Google Suite, Windows OS, Microsoft Exchange, Enterprise collaboration tools such as Teams, Zoom, and Slack, and Databases and data visualization tools
