SUMMARY OF POSITION

Program:            School Partner Programs

Mission:              To partner with select San Francisco high schools to provide industry-aligned, work-based learning activities that support students’ current and future educational and employment success.

Principal Relationships:

  • Reports to: School Partner Program Senior Coordinator
  • Collaborates with: JVS School Partner Programs staff, SFUSD school site staff, educational and employer partners
  • Supervises: N/A

Scope:

  • Support high school students in the successful completion of Work-based Learning (WBL) experiences including job shadows, internships, and competitive employment
  • Support existing, and develop new, industry, employment, and educational partner relationships
  • Collaborate with school-site administration, teachers, staff and other stakeholders to implement programming at the site and support the positive school community
  • Support pre-employment and success & retention activities

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Minimum Competencies

  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work in a multi-cultural environment with diverse staff, partners, and clientele
  • Strong organizational skills, able to manage priorities, meet deliverables and deadlines
  • Able to work independently, as part of a team, and flexible to meet evolving needs of participants, partners, and program
  • Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive

Preferred Competencies

  • Familiar coaching and supporting students while using youth development practices
  • Familiar with Dropbox, Slack, and Salesforce
  • Familiar with SF Unified School District and Work-based learning promising practices 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Experience supporting youth in obtaining career exposure, internships and competitive employment
  • Experience working with youth and maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Experience chaperoning youth on outings, encouraging engagement and ensuring the safety of youth
  • Experience facilitating engaging youth workshops
  • Experience assessing activities/outings and providing feedback

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience outreaching to, and securing, career exploration opportunities with employers
  • Experience organizing events and large scale activities with multiple partners

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Client Support

  • Through one-on-one and group coaching, support work-based learning (WBL) participants in:
    • Arriving on time and prepared to WBL site
    • Actively engaging with site supervisors
    • Problem-solving and logistical support
    • Connecting WBL experiences back to school day activities and themes
  • Collaborate with school-site administration, teachers, and staff to provide a high-quality experience for students both on-site and off
  • Identify participant needs and work with the school and program staff to connect the participant to resources

Program Support

  • As appropriate, participate in planning for, and coordinate work-based learning (WBL) activities
  • Identify and provide feedback on ways to increase student support, WBL support, and overall program outcomes
  • Support the development of collaborative vision while maintaining alignment to agency, department and program goals

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION 

  • This position will be working in a typical office and/or school setting, with no extremes in temperature or lighting
  • Able to travel and present at offsite locations in the Bay Area
  • Able to transport/carry program materials to school sites
  • Applicants should be able to work with equipment typically found in an office and should be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without accommodation. Possible accommodations needed should be discussed prior to the onset of employment and/or the interview process.

STATUS AND POSITION INFORMATION 

Department/program:                 HSB/School Partner

Classification:                              Full-time, regular, non-exempt

Salary:                                          $53,000 to $62,000

Benefits:                                      Eligible for all benefits offered to regular employees

This position is contingent on funding and will be evaluated annually.
